What is a Level 1 Charging Station?
A Level 1 charging station uses a 120VAC circuit. Most plug-in EVs can be recharged overnight from a regular three-prong household wall socket. Most car manufacturers include a portable Level 1 charging station with the car.
What is a Level 2 Charging Station?
A Level 2 charging station using a 240VAC circuit. This type of charging station is the most common among non-residential applications, but can be installed in most homes on a dedicated electrical circuit. Many cars can fully charge in approximately 4 to 5 hours using a Level 2 charging station.
What is a Level 3 (DC Fast) Charging Station?
A Level 3 charging station bypasses the vehicle's onboard charger and supplies direct current (DC) at very high voltage and current levels to achieve greater efficiency and very short charging times.
